The members of the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association are committed to being good corporate citizens, environmental stewards and community partners. The revenue we generate as an industry funds the state's curbside recycling program and supports local environmental projects through Growing Greener.
We live as neighbors and good citizens in the communities we serve and take an activist role in improving the quality of life around our sites.
We pay host fees to the municipalities where our facilities are located, but most of our members go above and beyond by making significant additional donations to civic causes. Year after year, our members collectively contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars to help their neighbors.
Because our daily job involves safeguarding the environment, many of our members particularly enjoy supporting environmental education programs in local schools, providing scholarships for students seeking to pursue an interest in the environment, and aiding neighborhood cleanup efforts and local beautification projects.
But our desire to be good citizens doesn’t stop with the environment. Among other things, we provide funds that help pay for community buildings, fire trucks, and playgrounds. We help support emergency medical response units, food banks, youth services, and special facilities for persons with disabilities.
When it comes time to stand up and be counted, the members of the waste industry demonstrate a generous commitment to the communities where they do business and where their employees and customers live and work.
